I'm so excited to start a blog about the things I love in life. Friends, family, life, and how food is a part of all of it. Food is my passion. Even more exhilarating is how food is a common component, a thread, that incorporates all the things I value in life. Growing up as a kid, much of our socialization revolved around meal times. With both parents working, dinner time was THE time to update each other on what happened that day. Whether it was my mom's delicious cooking or one of our favorite restaurants, it was that meal time experience that helped me to appreciate the tie between food and sharing life with others.
So you may be wondering where the name "lick-a-plate" came from. It probably won't surprise anyone that this name came about during a dinner at my parents house. My son, 5 years old at the time, was thoroughly enjoying his meal and proclaimed "this is SO good, I could lick the plate!" I quickly reminded him that you shouldn't lick a plate (in public) so he decided that we should open a restaurant called Lick-A-Plate and then it would be okay for everyone to do so! Low and behold...the name of my blog.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I will be enjoying writing it and sharing my passions and love of life with you.
Thanks for sharing Jen. I didn't know that you were a foodie. I like to think of Alan and I as foodies but maybe not as much as you. I am a big fan of Vietnamese food and I like Pho Ga (chicken pho). I used to work near Chinatown in Boston, MA and there was a Vietnamese deli that I would get sandwiches from. Yum. The french bread and the sauces were to die for. Anyway, thanks for sharing and keep us posted about what great finds you discover.
ReplyDeleteI think Ryan's idea of a restaurant called Lick-A-Plate is genius! I like how he thinks! If you guys ever come up to SF, check out some of the street food vendors in the city. They "tweet" their locations and some of the food is excellent!
